About

b3d7b0c7 ec65 4eac 8e58 a00099389749Just minutes from downtown Lubbock, the FiberMax Center for Discovery brings the story of American agriculture to life across 24 acres filled with historic equipment, immersive exhibits and plenty of hands-on fun. Visitors can climb aboard a tractor, try their hand at a cotton-stripper simulator and discover how generations of ingenuity transformed farming on the South Plains.

An exciting new wing is growing that experience in a big way. Its centerpiece, AgWorks, is a 5,000-square-foot agricultural literacy gallery where young visitors can explore an irrigation water table, follow the crop cycle, step into a large-animal veterinary clinic, climb and slide through a farm silo and discover how cotton travels from field to finished product. Interactive career stations also introduce children to the remarkable range of people who keep agriculture working—from producers and truck drivers to veterinarians and food scientists.

The expansion also includes the Taylor Cotton Heritage Center, home to the historic 1875 Goodman Cotton Gin. Rebuilt inside the gallery, the nearly 150-year-old, two-story structure offers visitors a rare, up-close look at an animal-powered bale press and early gin stand. Additional spaces include a rotating exhibit gallery, classroom, family corral, archives and research room, bridal suite and expanded meeting areas.

More than a museum, the FiberMax Center is also one of Lubbock’s most distinctive event destinations. Its conference center, gallery, classroom, patio and other flexible spaces can accommodate everything from business meetings and reunions to school programs, birthday parties and weddings.

Before heading home, stop by Grace’s General Store for a memorable gift or keepsake celebrating agriculture and the spirit of West Texas. At the FiberMax Center for Discovery, the past is preserved, the present becomes an adventure and the future of agriculture is waiting to be explored.
