BREEDING QUALITY DOGS SINCE 2008

Hur Family Farm is located in Cumby, Texas. We have a small working farm northeast of the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

We breed ponies, goats, Anatolian Shepherd Livestock Guardian Dogs, and Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dogs. We will be adding chickens, ducks, geese, guinea’s, sheep, milking cows, and bunnies, as well as gardens, orchards, berries, and nut trees as we continue with our construction projects in the coming years.

Our passion is the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog. A working farm dog that originates in Louisiana, this “do everything” dog can hunt, round up cattle, guard the farm, and cuddle with the kids. This breed is incredibly smart, loyal, and can be independent. Recently they have been used as scent dogs including blood trailing, drug dogs, search and rescue, cadaver dogs, shed (antler) hunting, and The National Park service have started using Catahoula’s in The Grand Canyon to herd wild elk and bighorn sheep to keep away from tourist areas.

Preservation of bloodlines of this breed is our main goal. Our foundation Catahoula bloodlines include Abney, Got Grit, Panheads, Cat's Cradle, and Glover's kennels. This is a small sample of our championship bloodlines, some going back to the 1950’s-

Our working Anatolian Shepherd Livestock Guardian Dogs and puppies are in the pasture 24/7 with our dairy goats, ponies, and barn cats. We breed for health, conformation, and temperament.

On our previous farm our dogs protected our cattle and calves, ducks, geese, chickens, guineas, turkey’s, and rabbits. They have fought coyotes, buzzards, snakes, packs of wild dogs, bobcats, and other predators. A baby goat was born in the pasture during an ice storm and our foundation female, Zena, kept her warm and protected by laying around her until I found them couple hours later.

These dogs are extremely versatile. Our puppies are currently being used for ADA dogs for people with MS and Asperger's disease, seeing eye guide dogs for the blind, PTSD dogs, seizure alert dogs, and more. Our dogs have been used as blood donors at the Hunt County Animal Hospital to save other dogs that need a blood transfusion to keep them alive. This breed is also used in Africa to save Cheetahs by keeping them away from flocks of sheep and herds of goats on local farms. They are also used here in the US for protection from the reintroduction of wolves.

This is our love. This is our passion.
