About
History of the Museum
The City of Pittsburg acquired the Depot from the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1988 to save it from demolition and to convert it into a top-notch museum. Local volunteers worked tirelessly to create a place where you and your family can learn more about Northeast Texas history and culture.
Depot Museum
The Depot Museum is located in a former Texas & St. Louis Railway Company depot. The original building was built between 1880 and 1885. It spotlights many local and regional historical interests dating back over 1,000 years when the Caddo Indians lived here. We have many exhibits including Cavenders, Carroll Shelby and the Ezekiel Airship.
Farmstead Museum
Visitors to the Farmstead Museum will learn what life was like in the late 1800’s and 1900’s in rural East Texas when they visit the oldest home in our county.
