Loyalty on Four Legs

Ask a longtime Austin area pet owner how far back their veterinarian relationship goes, and the answer might predate their car or their mortgage. That kind of loyalty is rare. It's exactly what shows up in the waiting room at Southpaw Animal Care, where some client relationships now stretch past three decades.

The clinic prefers to preserve the feel of a close-knit family practice on purpose. Dr. Weaver, who brings over three decades of veterinary experience to every exam room, leads a team that treats each pet's file like a story rather than a case number. Preventive wellness, surgical care, and dental work happen under one privately owned roof. Emergency visits do too, handled by technicians who have logged years beside him. New clients often mention the same thing: nobody rushes them out the door. That philosophy lines up with the practice's own description of itself: a place “Where Compassionate Care Meets Unparalleled Experience.” It shows in the thoughtful, personalized approach to care, the continuity of familiar faces, and the time taken to understand each pet’s needs, answer questions, and build lasting relationships with families who trust them.

That kind of steady, personal care is now backed by broader recognition. Southpaw Animal Care has been named a recipient of their 2026 Best of Texas Award. Dr. Weaver still remembers which dog prefers to be examined on the floor instead of the table. That kind of familiarity is why the honor lands less like a surprise and more like confirmation of what clients in Cedar Park and Leander have known for years. As the practice grows, the team plans to preserve the same close-knit, family feel, with a long list of pets who already think of Southpaw as a second home.
