Off Leash and on Cue

Off Leash and on Cue

A dog trots ahead on a Hill Country trail, ears flapping and tail up like a flag. Then someone calls its name, and it wheels around and races right back. That moment feels like a small miracle to anyone who’s loved an adventurous pup. Trainer Morgan Starr built Wild Dogs around it. Her mission is to give the area’s four-legged explorers more freedom to roam and adventure.

Starr trained at Starmark Academy for Professional Dog Trainers and Behavior Specialists. She uses simple, balanced methods that build trust and communication between dogs and their people. Her board-and-train programs keep dogs in her home, and field trips to parks and dog-friendly restaurants put new skills to the test. Options range from a two-week intro to obedience to a three-week program for reactive dogs. The four-week off-leash e-collar program is built for hikers and campers who want a dependable recall. Puppies between 8 and 12 weeks old can join a five-week program covering potty training and socialization. Weekly private lessons are available too, including virtual sessions by video chat. Boarding and tune-up stays keep the lessons fresh long after graduation.

Starr likes to say her real job is training humans, since the dogs already crave structure and clear communication. Weekly updates and video homework keep owners in the loop while their pups are away. Afterward, every client gets lifelong follow-up support by phone or email. Trainer Reilly works alongside her, and the assistants pitch in as well. Scout is an AKC Master Hunter who helps with training. Biscuit the orange tabby mostly teases the students. Starr signs off on it all with her favorite send-off, “Happy Training!” That mix of structure and genuine fun helped earn Wild Dogs their 2026 Best of Texas Award.
